U.S. tech big Microsoft on Thursday stated it can unbundle its chat and videoconference service Groups from its Microsoft 365 and Workplace 365 merchandise, in a bid to allay European Union antitrust issues.
Beginning Oct. 1 this yr, Microsoft will promote these packages with out Groups at a reduced worth totaling a 24 euro ($26) per yr discount within the EEA (European Financial Space) and Swiss areas.
European Union regulators had in July opened an antitrust investigation into Microsoft’s bundling of Groups with different Workplace merchandise, citing anti-competitive issues.
“We recognize the readability that has emerged on a number of of the issues from intensive and constructive discussions with the European Fee. With the good thing about this readability, we imagine it is vital that we begin to take significant steps to deal with these issues,” Nanna-Louise Linde, vice chairman of Microsoft European Authorities Affairs, stated Thursday in a blogpost.
