San Francisco:Jeff Bezos-owned aerospace firm Blue Origin is aiming to launch its New Shepard suborbital rocket throughout a launch window that opens on December 18.
The mission, referred to as NS-24, will carry 33 science and analysis payloads and different cargo to house.
The brand new launch comes after the failure in September 2022 when an uncrewed analysis mission lifted off from Blue Origin’s launch website in West Texas and seconds after launch, New Shepard’s reusable first-stage booster skilled a major problem and crashed.
A probe by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) cited the proximate reason behind the mishap because the structural failure of an engine nozzle brought on by higher-than-expected engine working temperatures.
Now, Blue Origin mentioned it’s focusing on a launch window that opens on December 18 for our subsequent New Shepard payload mission.
“NS24 will carry 33 science and analysis payloads in addition to 38,000 @clubforfuture postcards to house,” the corporate posted in X late on Tuesday.
The FAA had instructed Blue Origin to implement 21 corrective actions, together with redesigning the engine and nozzle elements in addition to “organisational adjustments”.
“Blue Origin should implement all corrective actions that affect public security and obtain a licence modification from the FAA that addresses all security and different relevant regulatory necessities previous to the following New Shepard launch,” the FAA had mentioned in a press release in October.
