Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a written reply to the Lok Sabha stated that IRCTC took motion on the RailYatri app following info shared by CERT-In in December 2022.
“As per info furnished by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Company (IRCTC), upon receipt of knowledge from CERT-In in December 2022 concerning leakage of knowledge acquired and maintained by RailYatri app, the ticket-booking facility on RailYatri app was stopped, penalty was imposed on the corporate which is the custodian of the RailYatri app, and the app was restored after taking obligatory safety measures,” he stated.
The minister stated {that a} whole of 10, 5 and seven incidents of knowledge leak associated to authorities organisations had been reported for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022, respectively.
“As per the data reported to and tracked by the Indian Pc Emergency Response Group (CERT-In), a complete of 47 incidents of knowledge leak and 142 incidents of knowledge breach had been reported over the last 5 calendar years,” Chandrasekhar stated.
The minister stated that CERT-In, in April 2022, had issued instructions underneath part 70B for necessary reporting of cyber incidents to CERT-In inside six hours of such incidents being seen or being introduced to note.
He stated that the CERT-In had additionally issued a particular advisory in December 2022 on greatest practices to reinforce the resilience of well being sector entities, and has requested the Ministry of Well being and Household Welfare to disseminate the identical to all authorised medical care entities and repair suppliers within the nation to reinforce cyber safety.
